EMILY CASH

Emily Cash is a Birmingham based artist who uses photography to explore the city and the people and objects that lie within it. Through her photographs she provides a variety of views on the life that inhabits a city and proves that a city is not just about the architecture and buildings but questioning what a city becomes without its inhabitants.

Having explored instant imaging, she is currently working with photography to create parallels between the relationship a city has with its inhabitants and the relationship an object has with the space surrounding it. Her work explores this parallel through photographic installation, using shape and placement to fully expose the chosen objects.

Emily has been inspired by the prose poems of French poet Francis Ponge who focuses on everyday objects in his works such as 'Le Parti Pris Des Choses'.
